Developmental Skills Technician
Reports to: Home Manager/Administrator
Supervises: Individuals Residing in the Home
Qualifications:
Minimal of a high school diploma, the equivalent or studying to obtain one is required. Previous direct care, nursing home, and/or experience working with developmentally challenged preferred. Must demonstrate a basic respect toward the individuals that we serve and toward your co-workers. Must be flexible and be willing to learn new skills. Must possess general good health and be able to Lift or assist with lifting an Adult. Must possess a valid Ohio Drivers License. Must have or be able to obtain liability insurance. May be required to transport and/or accompany individuals to doctor’s appointments, recreational activities ect., in an agency vehicle or using your own personal vehicle. * Must be 18 years old*

Basic Function:
To possess and practice a commitment to the Enpowerment ideology and to provide a homelike environment for the individuals that reside in each home. The DST will work directly with the individuals, individually and in a group setting to assist them in meeting their various identified social, physical, environmental and psychological needs.
Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct care and habilitation assistance to each individuals as needed.

Maintain adequate personal hygiene of each individual by assisting with, but not limited to bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing feeding, toileting, turning and positioning as needed.

Promptly report a suspected need for medical attentionto to the Facility Supervisor or Administrator.

Assist with or perform minor nursing care procedures as required.

Serve as chief resource person for the day-to-day status and needs of each individual.

Work with the professional staff to evaluate your assigned individual's present abilities, progress, regression, and their potential.

Participate in the development, implementation, documentation and follow through of each person's program that are identified on the Individual "My Plan" Document.

Maintain accurate documentation of each individual's program and activities.

Properly use and care for each individual's personal equipment: (i.e. walker, wheelchair, radio, T.V., etc.)

Interact with each individual and your co-workers in a manner which is consistent with respect for the individual and his/her value as a human being.

Interact with each individual and your co-workers in a physical manner that is socially and professionally acceptable
-
Use acceptable language and voice tone when talking to or addressing individuals or co-workers.

Maintain a safe, clean, healthful and sanitary environment for our individuals and co-workers.

Prepare and serve nutritious meals for our individuals.

Assist in maintaining each individual's clothing in a clean, and good state of repair.

Exchange any and all pertinent information about each individual and other concerns with relieving staff member at beginning and closing of shifts. If information needs special attention, contact your Immediate Supervisor.

Keep all pertinent administrative personnel informed of any changes in the individuals and their work schedules or sites.

Participate in on-going staff development activities.

Maintain the CONFIDENTIALITY of all information concerning each individual, their personal affairs, and the personal affairs of co-workers and C.H.S.

All other related duties that may be assigned by the Facility Supervisor, or the Administrator.

Activity Assistant
